Mella factory is equipped with an efficient Green Leaf Threshing (GLT) plant where green tobacco leaves are threshed, dried, pressed, and packed. Main process is the mechanical separation of the tobacco leaf (lamina) from the central stem (midrib). Processing includes threshing, conditioning, re-drying, and packaging, representing the final stage.

The plant is fully certified by the most relevant cigarette manufacturers in the world tobacco industry, and on request we can provide processing and strip blending services for international customers according to the single client necessity.
Key parameters as Moisture, Nicotine and Sugars controls are crucial to determine tobacco consistency throughout the leaf processing. We do perform the following crucial checks:
- Moisture Content check during Conditioning Process and in the packed final products;
- Nicotine and Sugars content test;
- NTRM (Non-Tobacco Related Material) i.e. Foreign Matter Removal;
- Degradation test to constantly check Threshing Parameters in order to obtain uniformity as per Standard or Customer Requirements.
